Material Choices

As a full-service supplier of membrane switch panels, front panels, graphic overlays and labels, Technigraphics offers you a wide variety of materials to choose from, insuring that you will satisfy your design requirements for quality, durability, and functionality.

Polyester, also known as PET (for graphic overlays, membrane keypad overlays, and labels):

Preferred for membrane switch overlays and keypad overlays due to superior flex life and chemical resistance vs. polycarbonate
Gloss levels ranging from gloss to matte to textured (Autotex, Autoflex EBG/EBA, Autotex DP, Autoflex DP)
Typical thicknesses: .005", .006, .007", .008" and .010".
Available with UV-inhibitors (Autotex XE) to protect the material from "yellowing" outdoors.
Available in heat-stabilized versions for printing Silver Flex membrane switch circuitry
Available with built-in Microban® antimicrobial protection (Autotex AM) that inhibits the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria that produce staining, odors and product degradation.

Certain polycarbonates have UV weathering resistant properties

Polyester label stock:

Offers superior temperature and chemical resistance. Service temp range is -40°F to +302°F
Typically is overlaminated with a 1-mil clear or matte overlaminate for protection of the graphics
Good for secondary printing operations such as serialization and bar coding by thermal transfer printing, laser printing, etc.

Metalphoto Anodized Aluminum:

Very economical for prototypes and short runs due to minimal setup time required to process
Ideal choice for durable UID nameplates and UID labels.
Design flexibility with 4 cosmetic finishes, 9 material thickness options, and the option to add color
Adds chemical durability to your product. Metalphoto resists harsh chemicals, salt spray, solvents, acids and bases
Enhances the weatherability of your product. Metalphoto resists heat, humidity, moisture & UV effects of sunlight.

Pressure Sensitive Adhesives:

3M 200MP High Performance Adhesives (467MP and 468MP)
- Ideal for adhesion to high surface energy (HSE) materials (aluminum, steel, polycarbonate, polyester, ABS, nylon, etc.)
- One of the most widely used adhesives in the membrane switch, and graphic product identification industries
- Available in thicknesses .002" and .005". Use the thicker version (.005") for textured surfaces
- Service temperature range: -31°F to +300°F for prolonged periods and +400°F for short periods.
- Excellent environmental, temperature, chemical and humidity resistance
3M 300LSE High Strength Adhesives (9471LE and 9472LE)
- Excellent for adhesion low surface energy (LSE) plastics (powder coated paint, polypropylene, . Also good for bonding to powder coated surfaces
- Available thicknesses .002", .0035, and .005". Use the thicker version (.005") for textured surfaces
- Service temperature range: -40°F to +200°F for prolonged periods and +300°F for short periods
- Excellent environmental, temperature, chemical and humidity resistance
